A different rustic take on food, flavours that are unmatched at any fancy restaurant, good old school cooking methods and without all that jazz seating adds to the vibes of the dhabas. In this blog, we bring to you 11 of our favourite Dhabas in and around the twin city which you may consider whenever you crave Dhaba food.

  1. Nana Dhaba, Phulnakhra:

Probably one of the famous dhabas on the National Highway connecting Cuttack to Bhubaneswar, this tiny shack serves one of the most amazing mutton rice combos. Situated in Phulnakhra this place is a must visit on Wednesday, Fridays and Sundays.

2. Behera Dhaba, NH-5, Just After Tamando

Probably one of those very few places in the twin city where there are cots in the dhaba and you get a dhaba feel. Give a miss to the not so praiseworthy cleanliness and the very rustic, the feel is worth it. Try the mutton thali, chicken thali, Chicken Dopiaza, Chilly Paneer and Anda Tadka.  Best part about this dhaba is that it is open till late night and one is assured of good food even in the middle of the night.

   3. Yummyies DHABA, Phulnakhra

If you want the lipsmacking Dhaba food and at the same time the comfort of a restaurant then Yummyies DHABA at Phulnakhra might be your saviour. Their Garhwali Chefs promise to serve you food like no other and for fish lovers this place is surely pure bliss. Must try: Exquisite range of fish preparations, dal makhni, tandoor dishes and mutton kadhai.

         4. Jungle View Restaurant, Chandaka, Behind Nandan Kanan

In Chandaka this amazing get away from the hustle bustle of the city is a perfect hangout for a foodie. The sprawling property got open spaces, cubicles and lot of places to click some amazing pictures. The Chicken Pakoda which is served along with fried garlic is a must try. Egg Bhurji, Bamboo Mutton is a must try. If you are quite an adventurous foodie then you might even try the Emu Meat preparations.

5. Bijaya Dhaba, Pratapnagri, Cuttack, NH-5

An iconic dhaba, en route Cuttack, this Dhaba stands tall quite literally.  The tandoor keeps popping hot tandoori rotis and naans at a frantic pace. The chicken masala, mati handi mutton, chilly paneer sells like hot cake. The prawn masala is also pretty popular.

6. Brother’s Dhaba, Lingipur, Sisupalgarh, Near Jagannath Petrol Pump, Bhubaneswar

Brother’s Dhaba a very popular modern decor dhaba serves a variety of dishes ranging from Tandoor to Sea Food and an amazing range of vegetarian dishes. The bamboo mutton is must try and you can pick the choice of your fish from their water tank.

7. Barunei Dhaba, Near Barunei Temple, NH-16, Khordha

At the foothills of Barunei Hills, this dhaba serves amazing Pakhala during summers, mutton-rice, desi chicken curry, vegetable fritters throughout the year. A 20 min drive from Bhubaneswar this place can be a perfect weekend lunch getaway.

8. Tara Tarini Dhaba, Rasulgarh, Bhubaneswar

One of the oldest and a very popular dhaba once upon a time still serves some really amazing prawn masala and chicken masala. The anda tadka is also a very good try. The food is not as amazing as it used to be but the fans still swear by its name.

9. Hotel Amber Aditya, Manguli, NH-16

Enroute Manguli lies this small dhaba which has its own set of fan following and they love the Vegetarian Thali, Chicken Masala and Mutton Curry that they serve.  If you are driving towards Manguli you can definitely stop by this dhaba. The heavy-on topping masala papad is a must try. Anda tadka at Amber has a different fan following as well. However, staff at the dhaba lack etiquettes hence on the service front experience may not be very pleasing.

For the more adventurous foodies who are willing to go to any extent to have a good meal here are two more recommendations that are beyond the Twin City but worth a drive. 

10 . Nilachakra Dhaba, Odagaon, Nayagarh

This dhaba is extremely popular for its Lunch Meal which includes Mutton Thali. Basic meal served in shala patra is absolute bliss. If your search is sould food, then this is a place worth visiting.

 11. Chilika Dhaba, Chilika

Now you either love this place or absolutely hate this place but any dhaba list is certainly incomplete without this very iconic place that deserves its place in this list because of the way it has maintained its popularity over the years. Any trip on NH-16 does include a stop at this dhaba to savour some sea food. Fresh catch from Chilika including crabs, prawns and sea food are the hottest selling items.
